When you need a qualified installer

D&H Air Conditioning is a full licensed, insured, and bonded heating and cooling company operating in Tucson and neighboring cities since 1959. We have installed thousands of furnaces, heat pumps, and gas/electric packages.

For several years now, we have carried the Daikin air conditioning products, as this Houston-based manufacturer offers some of the most technologically advanced heat pumps and gas packages on the market today.

Types of Heating Units

There are several types of heating units, each with their own benefits and efficiency ratings. What you would install at your home would depend on situation and budget. Let’s cover the various types briefly…

Daikin DM96HS Gas Furnace
The Daikin brand DM96HS high-efficiency gas furnace with two-stage gas valve and multi-speed blower motor provides substantial energy efficiency with effective heating performance
Daikin Heat Pump DZ18VC for heating and cooling
The Daikin DZ18VC is a high-efficiency heat pump, powered by a variable-speed swing compressor, ensuring it can reach up to 19 SEER performance.

Heating Furnaces

Furnaces blow warm air through ducts all the way into the house. This heating system is called “ducted warm-air” or “forced warm air”. In Arizona, these furnaces are powered by gas or electricity.

The US Department of Energy states: “A central furnace… efficiency is measured by its annual fuel utilization efficiency (AFUE)… AFUE is a measure of how efficient the furnace is in converting the energy in its fuel into heat over the course of a typical year.”

If you have natural gas lines by your home, it may be less expensive to add a furnace to your A/C than to install a heat pump.

Heat pumps

In winter, heat pumps use electricity to extract heat from the air outside your home and blow it into your home. In summer, they reverse the direction: they pull warm air out of your home and cool it down with a refrigerant.

The efficiency rating of a heat pump can be as higher as 300 percent. It only takes one unit of electrical energy to move three units of heat into the home.

Heat pumps are a natural choice there are no gas lines near your home. When the temperature outside drops below freezing, however, a heat pump is not that efficient.

Gas/Electric Packages

Gas packaged units include a gas furnace system for heating instead of electric heat strips. Gas pack systems are typically installed on rooftops or ground level.

Some of Daikin gas/electric packaged models comes with an energy-efficient compressor, two-stage heating and cooling, a variable-speed ECM blower motor, and an aluminum evaporator coil.

They may also allow for an easy conversion from natural gas to propane.

A painless installation process

With 60 years of experience installing thousands of heat pumps, dual-fuel air conditioners, and gas/electric packaged units in Tucson and in the metro area, D&H Air Conditioning has mastered all stages of the installation process.

Why install a new heating unit?

When temperatures drop this winter, your current heating system will be heavily sollicited. If it is old and doesn’t work at peak efficiency, you will face:

    • Higher energy efficiency
    • Higher repair costs
    • Less comfort
    • Less safety

Just the higher energy costs and the additional cost of repairs could justify the investment into a new heat pump, or a new gas/electric package.

Our technicians can help you figure out the cost differential, and determine if this would work to your advantage financially.
