Ironwood Ridges to D&H Air Conditioning & Heating, 3629 N Oracle Road Tucson, AZ 85705
Rancho Del Cerro is a beautiful place, on the west side of Tucson, along Camino Del Cerro. We were there today, performing a seasonal tune-up on an 8-month old split gas system. Because of the location of the air conditioning unit in the hills, it is submitted to a harsher climate than the valley. So our inspection has to be extremely detailed. We checked all wiring and connections, tested refrigerant pressures, tested current controller, tested compressor amps and outdoor motor amps, checked disconnect (no surge protection in any of the systems), cleaned the condenser coil, chcked the indoor unit, replaced the filter, checked the blower wheel and blower motor, cleaned the evaporative coil. The condensation was draining properly. We checked the temperature split, and concluded the system is cooling correctly at this time. We recommended the client to install a surge protector to cover the whole system: again, the high location on isolated hills is more risky for air conditioning systems in case of electrical surge (monsoon and storms). Air conditioner manufacturers do not warranty electrical damage due to power outage, power surges or lightning. This is a risk for the home owner, a risk that can set them back several hundred dollars. D&H always recommend the installation of a surge protection system to cover any risk and keep the manufacturer warranty in full force.
