D&H Air Conditioning Heating & Cooling provides a wide selection of quality mini-split systems and split A/C systems
We specifically selected these split A/C systems because they perform well in the dry heat of Tucson and Southern Arizona.
When you consider installing a new air conditioning and heating system, the most important decision you have to make is to pick the right HVAC contractor. The right contractor will present you several technical options, several technologies, and various levels of efficiency ratings. The choice will match your budget range, your type of lifestyle, the size of your home, the level of comfort you expect, and your own energy savings requirements.
Here are a few general options you have when selecting a “split system”. We explain here what that type of system is and how does it work, what technologies are involved, and what efficiency ratings you can choose from.
Split A/C systems are separate furnaces (typically inside the house) with an outdoor condenser or compressor. These systems are the most common application in Tucson and Southern Arizona. You can choose between a split heat pump or gas system.
Split Heat Pump – These are electric units providing both heating and cooling to your home. Because they come in separate components there are many options to choose from. Energy efficiency options range from 14 S.E.E.R. (entry level) up to the very high efficiency 21 S.E.E.R., inverter systems. The inverter systems are like having a full size unit and smaller system all in 1 unit. Quiet indoor and outdoor operation is now an option. While no machine is completely silent, many manufacturers have systems that are considered Ultra Quiet.
Split Gas System – These systems use natural gas to heat your home and electricity to keep you cool in the summer, providing year round indoor comfort. Because they come in separate components, split gas systems offer home owners the widest choices: energy efficiency, sound levels, single or 2-stage operation, length of warranty, in-door air quality,… and more! Energy efficiency ratings range from 14 S.E.E.R. (entry level) up to the very high efficiency 21 S.E.E.R., inverter systems. Warranties can range from 1 year to 12 years (depending on the manufacturer.)
Mini-split systems – We also carry the Daikin line of mini-split systems, also called “ductless A/C systems”. These are independent units that do not require duct work. These systems present a number of benefits:
- Daikin mini-split systems are extremely efficient, with SEER ratings up to 26.1.
- Ductless systems range in size from .75 tons to 3.5 tons, which makes them a good option for a variety of building sizes.
- Daikin mini-split systems can deliver high heating capacity too, down to -4 degrees Fahrenheit (you’ll never go below this in Arizona).
- Ductless A/C systems can be wall-mounted or ceiling-mounted.
- The LV wall-mounted units have sensors to monitor room occupancy to adjust between normal operation and energy-saving mode.
- Daikin mini-split systems have indoor operating sound levels as low as 26 decibels (barely audible).
Your D&H HVAC advisor is trained to make a series of complex calculations of the number of tons of air conditioning your home needs. His role is to recommend the right system, whether a traditional split A/C, or a mini-split system, based on many measurements made at your home during his/her visit. This technical visit is free, and it entails no commitment or obligation on your part.
