D&H services all types of air conditioning units in the houghton
Every day our HVAC technicians come back to our service centers with many stories related to air conditioning repair services. We decided to share some.
We were at Houghton and 22nd, on the east side of town, performing a routine inspection of a 6-year old A/C unit, an Amana gas split. Our client is covered under our Family Planned Maintenance program. We checked operations, amp draws, current controllers, all pressures. We also inspected the control boards and the fan motor, all functional. We had to tighten the unit electrical connections which had become a bit loose, probably due to the recent changes in the weather and some vibrations too. Our client’s air conditioning is equipped with surge protection, which is excellent. It also has a hard-start kit installed and it is operational. Inspecting the indoor unit, we found that the evaporative coils have corrosion forming on the refrigerant loops. We flushed and brushed the condensate line and tested the pump. We inspected the filter and tightened the electrical connections. In light of the rust observed, we recommended adding a coil guard to prevent further deterioration of the coil, which will lead to a refrigerant leak eventually. Our customer declined at this time, but he will think about it: it’s up to our clients to decide to follow or not our recommendations. In all, the Amana unit is operating at normal levels, and everything is well. If you want more details about our Family Maintenance Plan, please call our technicians at [phone] to receive the information. We attach a coupon with a $200 cash reward if you refer us someone who purchases a whole system.
