When You Live in the Catalina Foothills and Need a New Air Conditioning Installation

From the end of the 1960s to 2021, we have installed thousands of air conditioning units in the Catalina Foothills. There has been tremendous change over the past 60 years. Homes are larger, have more windows, higher ceilings… requiring more powerful cooling capacity from their air conditioners. A/C units installed in the 60s through the early 2000s have all become obsolete. The latest generation of systems (2000-2010) are now being scrapped and replaced.

If you think your residence needs a new air conditioning system, call us

A/C Technology Has Changed

If you are like many of your neighbors of the Foothills, you are concerned with the quality of the air that enters your home and your lungs. As Tucson’s population increases, and homes become more sealed, our indoor may contain more pollutants. Fortunately, A/C filtration technology has improved indoor air quality. UV filtering and inventions such as the Air Scrubber have appeared in our homes and improved quality of life.

Multi-Zone Air Conditioning Systems

HVAC systems used to be simple but rudimentary. Cooling and heating were uneven throughout a home. Today, multi-zone A/C systems cool off and heat up areas in your home based on their individual needs. As you are aware, some rooms are often warmer than others. Why should they receive the same volume of air at the same temperature as the cooler rooms? A multi-zone HVAC will create a more uniform temperature throughout your home by regulating air flow and temperature according to the situation of the room. In many cases, it makes sense to proceed with this type of air conditioning installation.

Inverter Systems

The Japanese A/C manufacturer Daikin, whose manufacturing operations in the US are based in the Houston, TX area, has pioneered inverter technology.

One of the inverter products is the FIT system. Daikin states on their website: “The Daikin Fit system is a side discharge, smart HVAC system that won’t compromise on comfort and connects to ducted solutions traditional to the unitary market. In a market saturated with expensive high-tiered inverters, the system provides a premium mid-efficiency inverter at an affordable rate.”

But what is an inverter? In a few words, an inverter is a variable speed cooling system. Just like the modern pool pumps feature a variable speed motor, the most modern air conditioning systems control the speed of their motor based on the temperature measured by the thermostat. Older technology HVAC systems are “on” or “off”. When they run, they run at full speed. An inverter on the contrary varies its speed based on the fluctuating temperature in your home. This results in a more consistent temperature, less starts/stops on the unit (i.e. less wear and tear), and helps with energy savings.

In the larger homes of the Catalina Foothills, inverter technology and multizone systems make a lot of sense, both in terms of quality of life and of power savings.

Mastering the process of air conditioning installation

With 60+ years of experience in installing a wide range of air conditioning systems in the Catalina Foothills and everywhere else in Tucson, D&H AC has mastered the installation process.

From the planning stages, execution and delivery, to training homeowners on how to control their air conditioning system, D&H provides a smooth experience. This is the reason how D&H installs most air conditioning systems in just one day.

Watch the video above. We shot it on a roof during a system replacement.

No trace left behind

When not prepared adequately, the process of air conditioning installation can be messy, and the bigger the system the messier it can become.

As part of the preparation steps, our installers show you if any areas are potential problems that need to be addressed before the installation begins.

Our installers map out areas to keep disorder to a minimum. If needed, they take photos of every zone to make sure problem areas are identified. Homeowners appreciate knowing whether there are structural or cosmetic issues before work begins, so their expectations for the process are best met.

Our HVAC installers are trained to leave nothing behind. Before finishing, they clean each area of the site, from your yard, to the roof, to inside your home.

Handing over the keys

When your new system is installed and fully tested to the satisfaction of our NATE-certified HVAC installers, we program it to your liking for optimum comfort. Then we show you how to use the system, set the temperature and the fan, judge if filters need replacement, learn maintenance schedules, recognize proper sounds, etc. Depending on the sophistication of the system installed, this step may take just a few minutes or a bit longer.

When we hand over your new system, you should be confident with its operation.

Financing

Air conditioning systems are relatively large investments. Many of our clients prefer to take advantage of special financing conditions when available, and keep their cash invested in higher return paper.

If this is your case, let us know your intentions early in our conversation, so that we can provide solutions that make the most sense for your situation.

HVAC manufacturer Daikin offer great financing programs from time to time. Call to ask us if there is any current special offer.
