Regular maintenance call in a newly installed air conditioning system in the Sunset Pointe area.

We conducted a heating maintenance call on a Daikin heat pump split system. We inspected the blower, the evaporation coil, the blower motor. We inspected the A/C ducts for cleanliness. We checked pressures, tested the current controller, all systems ok at this time.

We removed the locking caps and found out some oil spray-out. To avoid tightening the schrader core too much we replaced it to avoid any issue. The system is fully under warranty, and the service call takes place under the Family Maintenance Plan: no cost for the client. We also inspected the air filters. The system was nice and clean. Heating and cooling were currently operational at this time.

Refrigerant R22

R22 REFRIGERANT PHASED OUT IN A/C UNITS

We were at a home today in the Sunset Pointe area, to inspect and maintain a Rheem A/C unit. The unit is equipped is with an R-22 system. The compressor is showing signs of age by being noisy and knocking. We recommended that the unit undergo a complete maintenance cycle to obtain a full diagnostic, due to its age and the type of refrigeration.

The R-22 refrigerant is being phased out. The homeowner believed someone had flushed out the R22 and replaced it with 410 A. If any company tells you this, you have to know that it is unlikely because your system would not work properly. (Pushing the inspection further, we confirmed the system was indeed only R 22).

If you were to put R-410A refrigerant into a system designed for R-22, the pressure would be too much and the unit would break. Also, all air conditioners use oil to keep the compressor lubricated during operation. R-22 air conditioners use mineral oil and R-410A systems use synthetic oil. The synthetic oil is generally more soluble with R-410A than mineral oil is with R-22. Call us to check your A/C unit if it uses R22.
